A Singaporean wanted throughout the world for cashing thousands of dollars worth of fake travelers checks was awaiting trial today in Bermuda.

Richard Ang, 40, had been on his way to London after jumping bail in Nassau, the Bahamas, when he was caught here over the weekend holding 37,000 counterfeit Bank of America travelers checks worth $3.7 million, police said today.

They said he is wanted in Britain, Austria, West Germany, Denmark, Spain and Switzerland as well as his homeland.

Ang, who also uses the name See Kiow Hiew, always tries to pass skillfully faked $100 Bank of America travelers checks. Police say he passed 304 of them on a two-day stopover in Bermuda last month. On that trip, police say, he went to one jewelry store three times on the same day, buying four Rolex watches worth more than $22,000.
