South Korean students and workers demanding the overthrow of President Roh Tae Woo battled hundreds of riot police with firebombs, clubs and rocks after they were blocked from marching into the streets. The violence erupted after about 10,000 workers, dissidents and students held a campus rally to denounce the Roh government and demand free labor unions. Meanwhile, Justice Ministry officials said that about a quarter of more than 4,000 criminals, alcoholics and drug addicts held in camps will be freed this year.
