3D Systems Posts Loss of $1.4 Million for Quarter

Share

3D Systems in Valencia, a fledgling producer of a machine that uses lasers and chemicals to rapidly make models of parts and other equipment, reported the equivalent of a $1.4-million loss for its fourth quarter.

3D Systems’ main stockholder is the Canadian company 3D Systems (Canada), and thus the Valencia company’s financial results are expressed in Canadian dollars. The results have been converted to U.S. dollars at the recent foreign exchange rate, in which the Canadian dollar is worth about 83 U.S. cents.

In the quarter that ended Dec. 31, 3D Systems’ loss came on sales of about $1.92 million. There are no comparable year-earlier figures because 3D Systems had no sales before 1988. During all of last year, 3D Systems lost about $4.77 million on sales of about $4.57 million.
