The military has identified the remains of a Huntington Beach Marine aviator who was lost over Laos in 1972, the day before his 29th birthday.
A statement released Tuesday night by the Pentagon identified six American servicemen missing since the Vietnam War, including Maj. Sam G. Cordova, a former Ocean View elementary schoolteacher whose parents live in Rancho Mirage. The five other men whose remains were identified were shot down over Laos and North Vietnam in the mid- and late 1960s. Among them was one other Californian, a Naval Reserve lieutenant from Pomona.
