May Department Stores Co.: The St. Louis-based retailer said net income rose 20% to $534 million in fiscal 1988. Sales were up 19% to $11.5 billion. The company, which owns Robinson’s and May Co. California department store chains, said each of its retail segments contributed to the record results.
