New Prime Minister Named in Zambia
From Reuters
LUSAKA, Zambia —
President Kenneth D. Kaunda demoted Prime Minister Kebby Musokotwane on Wednesday and reshuffled key posts in his Cabinet.
The new prime minister is Gen. Malimba Masheke, who had been home affairs minister. Musokotwane, who had served as prime minister of Zambia since 1985, takes over the Education, Youth and Sport Ministry.
Diplomats said the changes appeared to be aimed at strengthening Kaunda’s control of the Cabinet and did not signal any major policy changes.
