Bidding for Wickes: The bidding for the Builders Emporium chain of home improvement stores continues, according to the Irvine firm’s parent, WCI Holdings. The company said in a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission that it has received several offers and is evaluating them. WCI Holdings disclosed plans to sell Builders Emporium, Orchard Supply Hardware and Wickes Furniture shortly after it acquired Wickes Cos., Santa Monica, which owned the three retailers. The bidders were not identified but among the interested parties reportedly are Robert McNulty, founder of the Home Club chain, and former Wickes Chairman Sanford C. Sigoloff together with the real estate developer Alexander Haagen. They could not be reached for comment.
