Hot on the wheels of “Tucker,” Hollywood appears to be renewing its love affair with the motor vehicle.

In production, or on the drawing board:

“Coupe de Ville.” The story of three estranged brothers--played by Patrick Dempsey, Arye Gross and Daniel Stern--driving the title car, 1954 edition, from Michigan to Florida for their father (Alan Arkin). Into production in May for release by Universal, early 1990.

“Ford Fairlane.” Shock comic Andrew Dice Clay portrays a rock ‘n’ roll detective who drives a you-know-what, investigating a murder in L.A.’s music industry. Rolling next month for Silver Pictures and release by 20th Century-Fox.

“Cadillac Man.” Robin Williams portrays a New York City car salesman taken hostage with other car jockeys. The Orion production is scheduled to go before the cameras in May.

“The Red Ferrari.” Disney’s entry is a Cinderella story about a 16-year-old girl’s fantasy to own a Ferrari Testarossa. She rents one-- and then it’s high-octane comedy. Scheduled for production this fall.

Two competition racing films are also competing: Simpson/Bruckheimer has the tentatively titled “Born to Run,” at Paramount, in which Tom Cruise will star. Weintraub Entertainment has “Indy,” sanctioned by the “500” and to be directed by Tony Scott. Both films plan to film this summer during the peak of the racing season.
