Bruce Springsteen has won a partial victory in a New Jersey court when a judge in Monmouth County tossed out the claim of two former Springsteen employees who say Springsteen was a lousy boss. Mike Batlan, 35, and Doug Sutphin, 38, both guitar technicians, left the Springsteen camp in 1985 and filed a suit two years later seeking punitive damages, claiming infliction of emotional distress and saying that Springsteen illegally denied them overtime and withheld money from their paychecks as “fines.” The judge threw out most of their suit Friday but ruled that the overtime claim could proceed. Springsteen is expected to answer that charge in court this summer.
