A man who made a withdrawal from an automatic teller machine at a Northridge bank was shot to death moments later when he struggled with an armed robber, police said today.
Aflam Hafham, 29, of Canoga Park was fatally shot at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Coast Savings Bank parking lot at Nordhoff Street and Tampa Avenue, across from Northridge Fashion Center mall, said Detective Jack Dillard. No arrests have been made.
After making a withdrawal, Hafham was stopped as he walked back to his car by a man with a gun who demanded his money. Meanwhile, another man with a gun went to the car and robbed Hafham’s two friends, who were not identified, of their wallets.
Dillard said Hafham began to struggle with the man robbing him and was shot twice in the upper body. The two gunmen then fled. Hafham was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
