Triton Group: The La Jolla-headquartered holding company, reported a $3-million net loss on revenue of $46.2 million for its fourth quarter ended Jan. 31, contrasted with a profit of $56.9 million on sales of $34 million over the same period a year ago.

Net income for the previous year’s quarter included income from discontinued operations totaling $50.3 million, as well as a $6.6-million extraordinary tax credit.

For the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, Triton reported net income of $59.6 million on revenue of $155.7 million, down from a profit of $75.2 million on sales of $140.8 million in fiscal 1988. The recently completed year included income from discontinued operations of $25.4 million and and tax credits totaling $34.2 million.

The results of the previous fiscal year reflect income totaling $64.2 million from discontinued operations as well as $15 million in tax credits.

The company sustained a loss of $24,000 on continuing operations in the year, showing improvement from a loss of $3.3 million the previous year.
