Tin Producers to Meet: The Assn. of Tin Producing Countries said it would hold an emergency meeting in Kuala Lumpur on April 10 to discuss the recent surge in tin prices. Under the ATPC agreement, an emergency meeting should be held if there is any sharp fluctuation in price. The price of tin on the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market rose last week to $8.78 per kilogram (2.2 pounds). In Europe, tin reached a three-year high of $9,100 a ton before falling slightly to close the week at $8,980. Officials are concerned that if the trend continues, the sharp increase in price may lead to a reduction in consumption.
