Escondido
A 52-year-old woman was struck and killed Wednesday night by a van as she tried to cross the street.
The woman, whose identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family, was walking across 9th Avenue when an unidentified man driving a Ford van west on 9th Avenue struck her.
The woman was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
The driver of the van, a 63-year-old man, was not arrested. Escondido police are still investigating.
