Old Values Survive

Share

I was raised in a strict but loving home in which drugs, alcohol and tobacco were forbidden. We were taught from an early age that we were to face life’s problems through trust in God and not through the crutch of alcohol and substance abuse.

As I read through the pages of The Times and note the intellectuals, politicians, artists, athletes and entertainers who cannot handle the pressures of everyday life without dependence of alcohol and chemical substances, I’m led to ask the question: “Do you think my parents were on to something?”
