The heart of a 19-year-old San Carlos youth killed in a high-speed crash near Palm Springs was donated to a man awaiting a transplant, the teen-ager’s mother said. “I knew my son would have wanted it that way,” said Sean Kelly’s mother, Maureen Kelly. The transplant occurred a few hours after Sean’s death at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. The name of the recipient was not released. “His heart was donated to a man with two small children and from what I understand he is doing well and for that I am happy. I am sure Sean is happy too,” Kelly’s mother said. The accident in which Sean was fatally injured also claimed the life of driver Jon Gregory Treadway, 16, of Mount Helix, and injured passengers Ramon (Skip) Summers, 19, of Lemon Grove and Jon Pasto, 20, of San Carlos.
