Broad Inc. Unit to Expand: SunAmerica Corp., the financial services unit of Los Angeles-based Broad Inc. (formerly Kaufman & Broad), said it agreed to acquire most of the assets of Southmark Financial Services Inc., the financial planning subsidiary of Dallas-based Southmark Corp. The deal will expand the number of financial planners at SunAmerica to more than 2,000 from about 800. SunAmerica specializes in the sale of insurance, mutual funds, limited partnerships and other investment products.
