1,700 Illegal Workers Returned to Thailand

SINGAPORE —
Two Thai naval vessels left for Bangkok on Friday, carrying home 1,700 illegal workers, a Thai diplomat said.
That brought to 9,700 the number of workers who have been repatriated by Thailand in the past three weeks, said the diplomat, who asked not to be identified.
Most of the workers are farmers who were brought here by syndicates.
