U.S. Assails All Factions in Lebanon, Asks Truce

WASHINGTON —
The United States today accused the warring factions in Lebanon of “reckless disregard” for human life and called for an immediate cease-fire.
The statement appeared to be a response to accusations by Lebanese Christians last week that the Bush Administration was ignoring Syria’s role in the fighting.
“All participants in the fighting, both foreign and domestic, should immediately cease fire and lift the siege and blockades,” the State Department said.
