Local : Valley’s Council Candidates to Meet
Candidates for two hotly contested San Fernando Valley seats on the Los Angeles City Council will meet tonight in one of the last forums before Tuesday’s election.
Councilwoman Joy Picus for the first time will face her five opponents in the West Valley’s 3rd District race at 7:30 p.m. at El Camino Real High School, 5440 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the West Hills Community Organization, the Woodland Hills Homeowners Organization and the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn.
The six challengers to Councilman Ernani Bernardi in the northeast Valley’s 7th District will attend a forum sponsored by the NAACP. It will be at 7 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club at 11251 Glenoaks Blvd., Pacoima. Bernardi said he has another campaign appearance but will try to attend the forum afterward. Candidates for mayor and school board also have been invited to the NAACP forum.
