Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Kidnaping Suspect Caught; Victim Safe
A Santa Ana man suspected of kidnaping his former girlfriend from her Santa Ana home was being returned to Orange County on Wednesday after he was picked up by authorities in San Jose.
The man, Cuong Tran, 18, was being held on suspicion of kidnaping and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident.
The alleged kidnaping occurred Monday at 8 a.m. when 17-year-old Trang Nguyen was abducted from her home in the 1000 block of W. Central Ave., according to Santa Ana police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas. She said that Nguyen, who was not harmed, was reunited with her family Wednesday. The girl was in the car with Tran at the time of his arrest.
