Wang Announces Cuts: Wang Laboratories Inc. has trimmed 880 people from its worldwide work force in the past three months and is planning further cutbacks, a company spokesman said. The Boston Globe, quoting unidentified company sources, reported that Lowell, Mass.-based Wang is also considering a writedown of some underperforming corporate assets. The large computer maker laid off 180 field-service engineers last week, the newspaper said. A spokesman said Wang’s payroll employees worldwide had dropped from 31,391 on Dec. 31 to 30,700 at the end of February, losing as many as 200 people a month by attrition.
