County’s Choice of McDonald’s

Share

I have just learned that the Orange County Board of Supervisors has given the fast-food concession rights for the Orange County airport to McDonald’s.

It is my understanding from an article in your paper that there were three companies being considered--Burger King, McDonald’s and Carl’s Jr.

With only one of the three having its headquarters in Orange County, paying, I would imagine, high Orange County taxes, being the employer of hundreds and hundreds of people who are full-time residents of Orange County, why would the supervisors decide on McDonald’s?

Carl’s Jr. has for many, many years been an active, involved, concerned company in Orange County. It has given freely to this community many times over the years, donating time, food and money. To think that the Orange County supervisors would make a decision in favor of any other company is ludicrous.

In my opinion, the high quality of Orange County could only be presented to the airport visitor by Carl’s Jr. If the supervisors’ choice was, as it should be, based on who could represent Orange County as its best, then without a doubt in my mind, the choice should be Carl’s Jr.
