Two Santa Ana men were killed early this morning about an hour apart in separate incidents.

Police received reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of South Standard Avenue about 1:30 a.m., Santa Ana Police Lt. Bob Chavez said. When officers arrived, they found the body of Esequiel Martinez, 32, of Santa Ana lying in an alley. He had been shot once, Chavez said. Police have no suspects.

In the second incident, Aaron Olivos, 32, was shot about 2:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of West 1st Street.

Chavez said Olivos was driving east on 1st Street approaching Daisy Avenue when he was cut off by another driver who had pulled out of a driveway.

“Olivos honked, got out of his car and approached the other car. He was immediately shot one time from the passenger’s side of the vehicle,” Chavez said. Olivos suffered a single gunshot wound to the right side from a small caliber handgun and died at the scene.

Witnesses saw a red compact car drive east on 1st Street after the shooting, but they could not describe the passengers.
