General Plan to Be Updated
The Rolling Hills City Council has agreed to hire a consultant to review and update the city’s General Plan.
The plan, which was adopted in 1973 when the city’s population was about 1,500, does not reflect changing development trends, City Manager Terrence Belanger told the council Monday. In some cases, zoning conflicts with the goals of the General Plan, he said.
City officials expect to award the consulting contract, worth $10,000 to $20,000, to a land-use planning firm May 8. The firm will immediately begin work on the housing element of the plan, which state law says must be revised by July 1.
