Hilbert Zarky; Former Justice Department Tax Expert

Hilbert Zarky, 76, a one-time special assistant to the attorney general in the Justice Department’s Tax Division in the administrations of Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Zarky was credited with arguing dozens of cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, with participating in more than 100 Supreme Court briefs and with being one of a few attorneys to appear before every U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in the country. After leaving government service he practiced with Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp in Los Angeles, where he became known for his litigation, writing and lecturing involving tax law.
