Writing on Walls

Lisa Erickson has a pet peeve: graffiti in the mid-Wilshire district. As the assistant building manger of an office tower in the area, Erickson has the graffiti cleaned off her property, and she wants others to do the same.

“The desirability of the mid-Wilshire District is at risk with the increasing amounts of graffiti, which detract from its appearance,” she said in a letter.

Particularly annoying, she feels, is the graffiti on bus shelters. With that in mind, Erickson is spearheading a campaign to get the owners of the shelters, Gannett Transit, to commit itself to a specific cleaning schedule. Supporting the effort is the nonprofit Los Angeles Beautiful.
