The European Community plans initiatives over the next two months aimed at convening an international Middle East peace conference, Francisco Fernandez Ordonez, Spain’s foreign affairs minister, said. At a news conference in Granada, the current head of the EC Council of Ministers said the community might also propose an interim solution to try to restore peace to the Israeli-occupied territories once it consulted Arab and Israeli antagonists. Earlier this year, the foreign ministers of Spain, France and Greece launched a series of contacts to work toward ending the violence in the Middle East.
