A federal judge in New York separated deposed Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos from a $100-million fraud case because of Marcos’ ill health, leaving his wife, Imelda, to stand trial without him. Prosecutors reversed themselves earlier this month and conceded that Marcos, 71, is too sick to stand trial now. He has been hospitalized with heart, kidney and lung problems since Jan. 15 in Honolulu, where he has lived in exile since his ouster in 1986. The Marcoses are accused of siphoning money from the Philippine treasury to buy real estate and art in New York.
