Gas-Fed Fire Injures 9 at Coke Process Plant

PITTSBURGH —
Fire at an LTV Steel Co. coke plant injured nine people, three seriously, police said Monday.
The blaze broke out in a building containing combustible gas that is produced in baking coal to make coke, which is used in making iron, LTV spokeswoman Debbie Kuvalich said.
