The general manager of American Express-France was arrested in Paris on charges of laundering money for an international cocaine ring, judicial officials said. Hector Cuellar, 50, a U.S. citizen and native of Colombia, was arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport on April 13 after an investigation by French police working with agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and American Express’s security department, the officials said. Cuellar is accused of laundering money for Roland Badier, 49, a Frenchman with a criminal record who was arrested by French customs agents last Oct. 13 while allegedly carrying nearly 7 pounds of cocaine. American Express has placed Cuellar on leave while the case is being investigated.
