A former Zimbabwe government minister who ingested poison last week after being implicated in a corruption scandal died and will be buried at a shrine for revolutionary heroes today, officials said. Maurice Nyagumbo, 64, resigned as senior minister for political affairs last weekend after a presidential inquiry implicated him in black-market car deals. Nyagumbo died at Harare’s main hospital Thursday night. Despite the scandal, officials said that Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe declared Nyagumbo a national hero.
