A 26-year-old taxi driver was shot and killed in North Belfast, Northern Ireland, in a drive-by attack claimed by the outlawed Irish Republican Army. The driver, William Thompson of Belfast, was overtaken by another taxi and a masked man inside fired at him, police said. The IRA said in a statement that it had information that Thompson had been involved in sectarian murders.
