Stephen M. Chiles has been appointed senior vice president and manager of the real estate finance division of John Burnham & Co. Chiles will supervise mortgage banking operations in the company’s San Diego and Orange counties offices.

Bart Tabor has been named first vice president and southwest area manager of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Finance Services, a national company which handles construction, permanent loans, plus joint venture and equity financing. Tabor will direct Coldwell’s operations in Los Angeles, Newport Beach, La Jolla and Phoenix.

The mortgage banking firm of Dwyer-Curlett & Co. has promoted Dolores C. Arriaga to assistant vice president of its loan closing division. The Los Angeles-based firm specializes in the placement of real estate financing with life insurance companies, pension funds and other institutional sources.

Terry M. Hargrave has joined Janss Corp. of Los Angeles as chief financial officer. Her responsibilities for the commercial real estate development firm will include project financing, financial reporting and lender relations.

Heller Real Estate Financial Services has named Kathryn B. Plouff assistant vice president and loan officer of its western region. Based in Beverly Hills, Plouff will work with mortgage brokers to provide interim programs based on cash flows to owners, investors and developers of commercial properties.

Engineers

ACCOLADES: Milton Meckler, chief executive officer and president of the Meckler Group in Encino, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The society is a technical and educational organization which, among other commitments, sets many industrial and manufacturing standards.

Developers

Glen H. Sexton has been named president of Warmington Homes’ North Counties Division (Los Angeles and Ventura). The 63-year-old, family-owned home-building firm is based in Costa Mesa. Sexton will work out of the company’s Thousand Oaks office, directing the division’s day-to-day operations.

James A. Sinsheimer has been promoted to first vice president within the planning and construction department of Tishman West Co. The full-service real estate developer is headquartered in Los Angeles. Sinsheimer joined the firm in 1984.

Doerken Development Corp. of Lancaster has named Edward John Golden executive vice president. Headquartered in Santa Monica, Doerken will acquire and develop commercial and industrial projects in Antelope Valley and Kern County.

Robert T. Pace has been appointed vice president and general counsel for the Hahn Co. Based in San Diego, the firm specializes in shopping centers. Pace will handle all of its transactions, litigation and corporate matters.

Brokers

Bryant Cos. of South Pasadena is one of the first real estate firms to join the newly formed Prudential Real Estate Affiliates Inc. Prudential expanded its services to incorporate real estate in 1988. David W. Bryant, founder and president of the Bryant Cos., has provided service to clients in residential and commercial sales, and property management since 1964.

Irvine-based Scher-Volt Commercial Brokerage Co. has announced that Robert J. Socci has joined its Anaheim/Orange office as associate vice president. Socci will continue his specialty in industrial properties marketing and in leased investments.

Architects

ACCOLADES: Fourteen winners were announced in the 10th annual Interiors Magazine Design Competition; two were from Southern California: The Shimazu Partnership Architects of Marina del Rey, and William Adams Architect of Santa Monica.
