A group of black students at Wayne State University ended a 1 1/2-week protest in a campus building Sunday after administrators promised to beef up the black studies program and minority recruitment.

The agreement calls for the university to more than double funding of a newly created Department of Africana Studies, increase the number of black faculty members and offer at least 10 scholarships to black students.
