Micropolis Corp., a Chatsworth maker of disk-drive data storage equipment used in computers, reported that it lost $13.3 million in the first quarter that ended March 31, compared to a profit of $7.2 million a year earlier.

Sales were virtually flat at $80.6 million. Micropolis has been hurt by a glut of disk-drives on the market and problems in working out manufacturing for an improved disk drive.
