House Speaker Jim Wright

Share

I surely agree with The Times that Jim Wright should resign as Speaker of the House. If it were not for Fort Worth, Tex., it would be a consensus.

The House Ethics Committee has “reason to believe” that Jim Wright violated House ethics rules in 69 instances and it was a unanimous indictment, similar to a grand jury indictment but not criminal.

Speaker Wright says that he is not guilty based on technicalities and that maybe he used poor judgment--nothing more.

He has lost credibility and is no longer effective as Speaker except in a negative, embarrassing manner.

We don’t need “poor judgment” only two steps from the White House.
