Lebanon’s warring factions refused to lift blockades of each other’s ports and clashed in and around war-ravaged Beirut in a violation of the latest Arab League call for a halt to the fighting. Authorities said three soldiers from the Christian-led army were killed and 10 other people were wounded. Police said troops controlling Souq el Gharb, a hilltop village seven miles southeast of the capital, battled with tanks, mortars and rocket launchers against Druze militiamen entrenched in the nearby Syrian-controlled Shouf mountains. Druze warlord Walid Jumblatt rejected any settlement with the Christian military leader, Maj. Gen. Michael Aoun, and vowed to oust him.
