Fullerton : Man Is Killed, Driver Held in Freeway Crash

A Fullerton man was killed early Tuesday when he was thrown from the passenger side of a car as it overturned on an exit from the Orange Freeway, California Highway Patrol officers said.

Robert Botchett, 26, of Fullerton died at the scene at 12:15 a.m. at the Imperial Highway exit from the freeway’s northbound lanes. The car flipped after the driver went over the side the exit ramp, officers said.

The driver, Ray Stanhope, 28, of Fullerton, was treated for minor injuries at St. Jude Hospital and then taken to Orange County Jail where he was held on suspicion of drunk driving and of manslaughter. His bail was set at $5,000, officers said.
