USAir announced a $1.3-billion deal with McDonnell Douglas Corp. to buy 20 of its MD-82 aircraft and take options on 20 more. The Times reported a preliminary agreement on the deal in February. The first two new planes would be delivered in September, 1992, and the remainder of the firm orders and options, if taken, would be delivered at the rate of one a month starting in January, 1993 . . . Hewlett-Packard Co.’s agreement to acquire Apollo Computer Inc. for $476 million in cash has cleared a federal antitrust review, the company said . . . the Cherokee Group said shareholders have approved the merger of Cherokee with GRN Industries Co., a corporation organized by Deutschman Clayton & Co., a private Los Angeles-based investment firm whose principals include Jeffrey S. Deutschman and Everett M. Clayton III.
