Council OKs 43-Home Project
The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council has approved a plan that will permit Watt Palos Verdes to build a 43-home subdivision on 64 acres on Palos Verdes Drive South.
The council finalized guidelines for the development Tuesday. Watt had sought to build 64 houses on the property when it filed its proposal two years ago.
The plan restricts the houses to 4,300 square feet and limits the amount of fill removed from the site to 250,000 cubic yards. The council scrapped a guideline that would have required the Watt subdivision to have privately maintained streets.
Larry Schmidt, a spokesman for Watt Palos Verdes, declined in an interview to say whether the council’s decision would preclude development of the tract.
The Planning Commission had reduced the number of houses to 55, and the decision was appealed by Watt to the City Council.
