5 Arabs Shot by Angry Israeli Settlers
Jewish settlers set fire to a packed mosque and shot and wounded five Palestinians in the occupied territories today after two Israelis were stabbed to death Wednesday in downtown Jerusalem.
Jews and Arabs fought for hours during the night in the West Bank city of Hebron, where settlers set fire to the mosque and opened fire on Palestinians stoning their homes. The army closed the area to journalists.
Elsewhere in the West Bank, troops shot dead a Palestinian in a stolen car who tried to break through an army roadblock stopping Arabs from entering Israel.
In Al Mughayir village a gunman shot dead another Arab accused of collaborating with Israeli secret police. He was the 16th accused collaborator to be killed in the last month.
