Gary Hicks Captures Scratch Main Event

Gary Hicks of Glen Avon won the four-lap scratch main event Friday in the weekly speedway program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. Attendance was 4,163.

Alan Christian of Murietta was second, Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa third and Brad Oxley of San Clemente fourth.

Christian won the eight-lap handicap main event. Jim Sisemore of Woodland was second, Archie Perez of Costa Mesa was third and Louis Kossuth of Brea fourth.
