An American who suffered a fractured skull when he was attacked on a cruise down the Yangtze River a month ago has recovered and has been discharged from a hospital, a newspaper reported Monday.

Derron Craft, 23, of Bozeman, Mont., left a hospital in Wuhan, on Saturday and was accompanied by his father and a U.S. Embassy official on a flight to Beijing, the China Daily said.

Craft, who began studying at the Beijing Languages Institute in September, plans to return to the United States today, the embassy said.
