The State : Jailers Held in Inmate Abuse
Five Santa Clara County jailers were arrested on charges that included the alleged hitting of inmates, lewd conduct, driving under the influence of heroin and brawling, authorities reported. County Correction Department Lt. Bob Stith said all five were arrested by San Jose police officers. Those arrested are Robert Aponte, Michael Jordan, Alexander William Diaz, Jason Lara and Hildelisa Noriega. Lara and Noriega are brother and sister, officials said, and were charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor, in connection with an off-duty “non-family-related scuffle” some five weeks ago.
