Officer Named to 2nd Term on Joint Chiefs of Staff

WASHINGTON —
President Bush has nominated Air Force Gen. Robert T. Herres to serve a second two-year term as the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon said Tuesday. Herres is the first officer to hold that post, created through a Pentagon reorganization initiative in 1986.
