Home Box Office reportedly will enter advertiser-supported cable service with a new 24-hour all-comedy channel. HBO, which for now is declining comment on the venture, has scheduled a Tuesday news conference in New York where plans for the new channel are expected to be announced. The most recent advertiser-supported cable TV venture was Ted Turner’s TNT channel, which started up last October.
