LAGOS, Nigeria —
A former governor of Kaduna state has been arrested for contravening a decree banning certain people from political activity, Nigerian newspapers reported Wednesday.
Balarabe Musa was arrested Sunday after playing the leading role in the launching of a new political association the day before.
He is chief spokesman of the Peoples Liberation Party, a socialist group that advocates ending Nigeria’s stringent economic reform program, which has been endorsed by the International Monetary Fund.
