World championship combined gold medalist Tamara McKinney heads the list of athletes selected for the 1989-90 U.S. Alpine ski team, Alpine program director John McMurtry said.

McKinney, 26, of Squaw Valley, Calif., won a gold medal in the combined and a bronze in the slalom at the 1989 World Alpine Ski Championships at Vail, Colo., and finished the season ranked third in World Cup slalom points.

Joining McKinney on the women’s team are: Diann Roffe of Williamson, N.Y.; Chantal Knapp of Underhill Center, Vt.; Monique Pelletier of Aspen, Colo.; Tori Pillinger of Park City, Utah; Edith Thys of San Leandro, Calif., and Heidi Voelker of Pittsfield, Mass.

On the men’s team are: Kyle Wieche of Farmington, Conn.; Felix McGrath of Shelburne, Vt.; Tiger Shaw of Stowe, Vt.; Bob Ormsby of Tahoe City, Calif.; Tommy Moe of Palmer, Alaska; Jeff Olson of Bozeman, Mont., and Troy Watts of Breckenridge, Colo.

McMurtry said team members will compete at the World Cup events Aug. 11-12, with men’s races at Thredbo, Australia, and women’s races at Las Lenas, Argentina.
