Plastic surgeons at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston have successfully reattached four amputated fingers to a man’s left hand, hospital officials said. Mark Mulvey, 23, of Brockton, Mass., lost his fingers May 3 in a table saw accident. On May 4, nine surgeons spent 18 hours in the operating room, using a two-sided operating microscope to rejoin blood vessels. Officials said they waited to release information about the operation to make sure the procedure succeeded.
