A Vatican report condemned pornography on television and other media as an incitement to “child molesters, rapists and killers” and urged that this “insidious traffic” be curtailed by “sound laws” and “ethical codes.” The report was prepared by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. U.S. Archbishop John F. Foley, president of the council, told a Vatican news conference that the document was the first Vatican paper devoted to the pornography issue.
